Cabinet makeover

We built out the cabinet over the microwave and built up to the ceiling to add beauty and break up the boring level plain. We made two new cabinet doors for this cabinet. These were 20-year-old builder-grade cabinets, original to the home. We inverted the colonial baseboard and added it to the top of the cabinets and installed 5 1/4" crown molding. The inverted baseboard gives the crown molding an extra decorative detail. The doors were plain and very non-descript. We fitted each door with a panel mold trim to give the doors a raised panel effect. The kitchen was outfitted with 3 1/4' crown molding at the same time.
