I see what you mean about the benefit of glass cabinets having lights. that would be your call if i needed that if I ended up having glass fronts. the one thing I do like about these is that the fronts are one big piece of glass instead of the windowpane grid. I hate when the shelves don't line up with the grid and these alleviate that problem.

would an island work if I gave up the bar stools? I would keep barstools with the island to make it a true eat-in. Better for resale.

See how there are only two chairs on island end? I'm fine with that so I can use my chairs :-). like the rest of this kitchen but don't love as much as others, it's a little too traditional. i'm more transitional.

Love a cabinet that hides the tall appliances like the toaster but allows them to stay plugged in.

Like the straight across pulls on the drawers in this kitchen, not the giant ones on what I think is the fridge but the regular size ones. Actually like this kitchen but thinking white subway tile for backsplash or something similar. the gray I think in my kitchen may just look dingy.

Could this be done in existing footprint? Seems cramped :-( This is very similar to what I propose. The bar stools are quite bulky and the photo isn't great - curious if it's as cramped a it appears.

Love, though I see my island being white with probably only two barstools. Why only two? the kitchen is small--and I just recovered two pottery barn bar stools with my own fabric and I really want to keep them--they were my first real diy project, EVER.

It sure I need this, a narrow bottom cabinet without dividers would work as well. I have a lot of serving platters.This is kind of cool, though I think I would only need half or 3/4 the size. -not sure if this is standard anywhere. I can live without if too expensive. Just sharing as fyi

One of my ideas was to have the upper cabinets on the wall that you can't see in photos have glass fronts--2 standard size upper cabinets like pictured here but right next to each other (as if you took out the stove in the middle). I like these glass fronts instead of the ones that look like multiple window panes b/c it bugs me when the inside shelves don't line up with the window pane grid. Not sure if that makes sense but I can further explain when I see you.
