Ability to be open or closed...nice to have everything feel very handy, but be able to hide for parties, etc.

LOVE butcherblock. Also like the idea of having space for dog bowls on the floor - but no need to have anything built in.

Open shelves example. We'd love to compromise on this, because for the daily use dishes (plates, bowls, glasses), Kol prefers open shelves.

Love the curve of the peninsula, and layout feels cozy. Color of cabinets is a little dark, but nice.

Like the curve of the island

Really beautiful, but probably not something we'd due based on assumed cost.

Love the open shelves, materials feel rustic in a good way

Love the backsplash material. These open shelves feel dangerous in that they are narrow. Feel like stuff would fall off.

nice storage - while keeping stuff clean.

very cool organization, with whiteboard, corkboard, etc.

Nice alternative to over the island pot rack, just to ensure clean sight lines through kitchen. This is a metal backing with magnetic hooks that can be moved around. We'd want to have more space than this devoted to this purpose.

Nice use of space (we hate lazy susans in cabinets).

Don't like the colors and materials, but like the fact that there is a combination of open and closed space in the pantry, with extra counter space. This picture really doesn't capture our ideal.

Like the curve of the peninsula

Interesting aesthetics (the pie slice shaped island).

Like the two level island (both aesthetically, and allowing for electrical outlets in the back of the first level). And really like the gentle curve in the upper counter of the island)

Example of cabinets we don't like because there's space above the cabinets that would collect dust.

Interesting use of ceiling to partition two spaces. Also like the lightness of the flooring & cabinets. Backsplash is hideous.

Interesting that the cabinets on the left have one open tier at the bottom. Might be a nice balance?

Nice functional storage

Another way to have the cabinets go to the ceiling.

Kol likes these cabinet's style/look, though doesn't care about the color, just likes how simple/clean they look. Pulls are a nice style, though we'd prefer slightly smaller

Prefer drawers over shelves for anything deep

Again, nice functional storage

Might windows above the cabinets get us the light we want, while maintaining privacy and allowing for more cabinetry?

Love that there is a prep sink in the island and near the stove.

If we do a corner island, this would help make the corner a focal point, but would require us to lose at least that window.
