Staircase

Here’s basically what it will look like

Here’s what it would look like with full storage under stairs

Q

Photo

J: nice simple mouldings on staircase. Nice colour too but will it be too dark?? Not a fan of the chandelier but can picture a more classic console at door... Make it cosy with some baskets... And can put maybe keys there S: the dark frames and dark features on chandelier complement the contrast dark and white wood nicely

Q

J: straight set of stairs not as nice. Think like a u shape with a return landing instead S: yes I agree as well.

J: I can imagine hiding things like bags or shoes under the seat. Think carpet over the staircase doesn't look as good but will be warmer under feet. I wouldn't want a front door ( or is that the back?) like this... Would hate people to be able to look directly inside S: the storage bench is a great idea. I don't really mind carpet or timber staircase. Agree re privacy

Q

J: staircase too dark and prefer thicker balustrade. Panelling on walls make the house look really dated. Think too much panels. But storage under staircase is a good idea. Like a cloak room / mud room S: yes needs to be thicker balustrading. I don't mind the panels but ok with fewer

Q

S. Stairs matching timber floors. I think slightly too dark but still looks pretty elegant. J: think it might help with a large window at staircase to let some light in. Don't like this color flooring.

S. Nice tight landing although not sure we want our window to be as big or as prominent, the view will not be as nice as this one! Think the window should be wider and higher up J: maybe window not nice because it doesn't have a nice frame around it?

Q

S. Stairs with landing, large window J: not too sure with all the wall mouldings... Too fussy. Don't like the contrasting door hinges either. Void area at our entrance would be great to let some light in. S: yes possibly too many mouldings here

Q

Photo

S. Landing, large window although I think we will not need that many stairs in the middle landing area J: think this is like for a 3 level house... S: yes this is what we will have!

Q

Photo

S. Wooden stairs, natural light from window (would love to see what the window looks like though!!) J: yep. This brown doesn't look too bad... But prob doesn't go with the black/dark brown furniture. Nice fireplace
