War on Waste: How to Keep Your Fridge Food Fresh

Stool backs not very high

Q

Just above bench top height

Q

Photo

These blend in a lot more

Q

Need to choose a subtle/bland colour

Buttons on the back are too much

J: like the homey feel to the kitchen. Like the Criss cross window cabinetry, the moulding on the cabinetry. Pendant lights will be good task lighting for the island. Not keen on the French hood... Steve will hit his head. Like the colour of floorboards with the White. S: agree with everything although the floorboards have a bit too much grey undertone for me.

Q

Photo

Charleston display. Don't want main sink in island

Q

Photo

Clock above stove? J: clock should be seen by the whole area… not sure that is the best place for it

Q

Photo

J: recess over oven may be hard to clean and not practical. Think the floor is tiles and not floorboards. Colour is ok. Pendant lights not practical. Need more task lighting over kitchen island S: it's a nice warm feel, but yes regular range hood more practical and need better pendants. They have used full height rather than having bulkhead

Q

Photo

J: stove top looks funny with the cabinets underneath. Floor colour and pattern ok with the White. Subway tiles nice as splashback but too shiny? Ceiling is nice but I can imagine heaps of maintenance and cobwebs S: ceiling is too much. Floor is nice. I'm ok with the subway tiles

Q

Photo

J: floor board colour makes the kitchen look nice and fresh and light. Like how the kitchen is very bright. Subway tiles look nice. S: agree, nice floor colour

Q

Photo

J: kitchen looks cramped. Don't know why. Like 2 sinks. Practical. One for prepping and the other for washing up. Although think the island sink should be more on the side so have a bigger prep surface. Don't mind these cross glass cabinets Prefer the traditional English Company taps Don't like the handles for the drawers. Don't like the square tile splash back. Think subway will look nicer S: the island is quite short (3 stools). Agree with everything. Note the bay window shelf above sink...maybe a nice place for a plant or something.

S. Love the Hamptons style stools. The windows either side of the range hood are good too. are the floors too dark? Not sure. I think the kitchen handles are a bit too dark. Would prefer a chrome or silver colour J: stools nice but I think too generic. Maybe more of industrial style stools? Brown leather and metal dark legs. Don't like dark bench top and handles. Think nicer in white/silver. Don't like these glass cabinetry. Think the cross look better. Agree re Windows. Yeah think floors could be a little too dark.

S. Really nice beachy feel. Subway tiles look good. I wonder if we are going to do the high ceilings in the kitchen, we can have like a bulkhead above the high cabinets, but have the exterior wall cut in and have a window right above, a clerestory window. Not sure if that is possible. J: yes like subway tiles. White grout is good. Nice clean homey casual elegant look to the kitchen. Better glass cabinets with the colonial look compared to other glass cabinets. Don't mind the floor board colour here. Safer to go with White Island I think. Not too sure how it would look with a clerestory window. Could ruin the look. Not a fan of the stools or pendants

Q

Photo

J: I don't think grey splashback and brown wooden floors go together S: agree. This one may be a bit too brown. Kind of like dirt brown

Q

Photo

Nice wide drawer for cutlery, the wooden slots look much more elegant than plastic.

Q

Photo

S: great for cutting boards and baking trays

Q

Photo

S. Very white, possibly too white. Nice wainscoting on the cabinetry and island ends J: maybe because the shutters are closed? Don't like the parquetry look. Don't mind those doors though. Don't like the grey marble look... A bit too much. Also think the stools make it look dated

Q

Photo

Great storage solution for Tupperware. Keep it all in a single cupboard

Q

Photo

S. Love this idea for plate dividers in drawers. J: possibly. Am indifferent.

Q

Photo

J: condiments/sauces compartment near stove top will be very useful. Need a tall compartment and a short compartment. Where should the spices go? Pantry or near the stovetop? S: I think pantry is fine. You just bring whatever you need. Or possibly have a dedicated drawer for them given we'll have heaps of drawers!

Q

Photo

J: drawers better to prevent dust S: if pantry closed most of the time I doubt there would be much dust...

Q

Photo

J: mix of bench/ shorter shelves at top good idea S: yep
