Note that the built-in bookshelves on each side come out further than the fireplace (like it would likely occur in our basement). It looks okay - maybe partly because the mantle also comes out to the same depth.

Idea: Make two tables like this with the two barrels and put casters on the bottom so they can be moved around. Could be used as the elevated seating behind the couch for the home theater, but then also moved around for wine tasting or card games, etc.

These homeowners have a handy solution for dripping clothes: an in-floor drain right under a hook. Contractors Thomas & Lord carved out a rectangle from the tile that could be used as a drain. Then, they installed rooks and racks above it so their clients can hang up wet items and let them air-dry.

For Landry Room: Drying rack - could place one above the sink to hang-dry wet items.

Strange that a picture of a drying cabinet is used (#9), but there seems to be no mention of it! I just returned from Sweden where we had one in our laundry room. It was the Greatest. Thing. Ever. I immediately looked into getting one here in the states. (you can!) You can hang-dry anything in there in about four hours. You can dry shoes at the bottom and the bars on the door are perfect for linens and towels. The two knobs at the top control the time and heat. It's the perfect cross between tumble-dry and hang-dry!

With ceilings under 8 feet, the designers wanted to make them seem as high as possible. By painting the ceilings, bulkheads and walls the same white, it makes them seem higher. They also painted the bottoms of the custom wood floating shelves in the same white paint to continue the illusion.
