Look at the grey tile floor. This is a great choice for a mud room. Look at the window as well. Painted trim but left the wooden window panes.
Great tile flooring and you could paint the two opposing doors black.
Do you like the bench? Contemporary style. Is it too modern?
Your bench and paneling to the chair rail could be painted black.

If ceiling was vaulted, you could do a really cool light fixture for a dramatic entrance.
