I have a cabinet that rests on the counter, and my stone is the bottom. I have it full of appliances, very easy to pull . I would pay to have it modified. This is what you had imagined, right?

I have a ledge style sink and I find it VERY functional. One of the accessories I have is the "grid" which I generally keep on the ledge. It operates as an extension of my counter as well as a great place for drying hand washed stuff. Prepping OVER the sink is much easier than prepping on a counter. You don't have to wash down a counter after use and anything that goes into the garbage disposal just gets swept in. One of my favorite little accessories is the sponge rack which is a small "tray" with holes where I can put my damp sponges and microfiber stuff while it dries. I have a small kitchen so having the ledge style enables me to have a LARGE sink since functionally the sink with the accessories acts as an extension of my counter - for prepping as well as drying hand washed stuff as well as produce. Prior to my remodel, I had a standard sink and I bought one of those over the sink cutting boards so I have always prepped over the sink. Having the ledge functionality means my cutting board is much more stable and larger which is a plus. In terms of your question, get the option that enables you to have the drain NOT in the middle. Mine is to the left rear because my dishwasher is to the left. By NOT having the drain in the center, the sink is much more usable because you can stack stuff to the left or right of the drain without blocking the drain. When it sits in the middle of the sink, there is a smaller "clear" area to stack stuff. Also, having the drain to the left enabled me to fit a slide out trash container under the sink. If the drain is in the middle, the garbage disposal effectively takes up most of the under sink cabinet space. I have a small galley kitchen and there would have been no other place for a garbage container without blocking one of the lower cabinets. I had lived with that before my remodel and it was inconvenient - as well as unsightly - to have to move the trash container whenever I wanted to access the lower cabinet it was in front of.

Aqua or blue kitchen

We just put in Fantasy Macaubus counters. I would suggest you do not pick backsplash until yours is installed and you have painted your space. It looks so different in our house than it did in the warehouse. We repainted our kitchen (we did an entire remodel) and that also really changed the look of the slab. Putting the same slab on the backsplash would have been pretty great, but wan't in the budget. I have ordered backsplash tiles that look hand made, and have some color variation so they are cream, grey-ish and beige-ish. All of the blue tile options we brought home looked too heavy. The tiles are backordered, however, so I have been looking around more. I feel like the ones I picked are very pale, I kind of think darker would be better. Its hard to pick the right color, my slab ranges from taupe to grey to blue. BTW, I was very concerned out my slab being busy - my husband loved the "river" of blue through it and wanted that area on the island. But I didn't want so much movement on the perimeter so we asked the fabricator to cut it so that the quieter areas were showcased, and we didn't really use any of the white, swirly areas except on the coffee bar. I WISH I hadn't done that - that is my favorite part now! I don't know why I was scared of it. My least favorite parts are the quiet parts.... So, just know that it will look far less busy than you think when it is flat as opposed to vertical in the warehouse. IfI had it to do all over I think I might have kept this slab for the island and coffee bar and then gotten something dark grey, maybe brushed for the perimeter to add contrast. And in case you are wondering, we've had it in for about 4 months and its been bullet proof! I was concerned at first and careful but now I drip stuff all over it and its really fine. Here's what the slab looks like installed: And these the tiles I am considering (it comes in both square and 3x9 rectangle, you can see both shapes on the sample board)
