I wanted to capture the view from my new remodel. I priced a 15 foot by 9 foot double glazed window and it was in the 15k range, that did not include shipping which was as much as 4k more, Nineteen thousand total. I settled on 3 panes of 1/2 inch tempered class butt joined with silicone. It looks seamless and was 3k installed. My walls are made of ICF (concrete) with the frame being 8x8 wood beams bolted together and to the concrete. No structural issues, at least the inspector passed me without a word. Originally planned on a slider in the opening, but glad we put a door to the side and kept the nearly solid glass window. Planning on doing a 40' wall with 9' floor to ceiling windows in my next build. Have looked at homes with similar walls and they had one 10" support in the middle, and a 8" x 12" header spanning each 20' section. Still looked rather seamless, especially if the view is something special. I've decided I like the look of unbroken glass. Will still put the door to the side. Perhaps look into the solid butted glass wall.
