MTF Entry
Click link to find use of this in stairwell (landing wall where our window would be). Interesting idea. Could continue on island and above island or in a tray or other details like that. Doesn't need to be reclaimed wood. Could be other accent look (preferably with a certain degree of texture).Maybe something a bit more formal and a little less trendy.
Not this modern look, but... This would be an interesting way to open that first stairway + the landing and window while simplifying the higher stairway. I think these lines could be a great and sophisticated compromise. I even see artwork on that long interior wall. With the right piece of art, this design could look very intentional and classy.
Hmm. Not sure what I think about those windows in the wall behind the stairs, but it would help with natural light and might be interesting. Just tuck the idea away. Might be cheaper to simply finish both stair rails, though.
cont. Another angle. Can't quite make out detailing on wall--perhaps open with railing. It might also simply be some decorative molding which could be a later upgrade. Looks nice.

About half a flight visible. Made more visually appealing with tall pillar at base. A trick that might work--draw interest lower.

This has the window on the same wall (is ours higher?) but without the stairwell divided by a wall. Again, what is the visual loss with that wall (in terms of lighting and design).
This at least has the same effect as a stairway with only half with railing would bring. I like the cut-away above the stairs (opens for head clearance and especially that it gives a peak at art. What could we do to open our space in similar (or perhaps better) ways. The window is nice here but is on the adjacent wall for us. Natural lighting in that space is also a consideration in our decision.
No significant mudspace in this Park City home. like the functionality of their entry. Classy bench and shoe drop. Closets might function for coats.
