My pot filler is centered over my gas cooktop (as pictured above) & I cook daily & it’s never gotten dirty or been a cleaning issue. Not sure I’ve ever had to clean it other than wipe it off. It is a great feature to have if u cook a lot & even if u don’t. It’s a great source of water to fill up a large pictue of water, coffee pot reservoir like on a Keurig, or just a measuring cup if the pot filler is closer. Yes, you still have to carry the pot back to the sink but at least you don’t have to carry the pot full of water to the stove before any of the water has boiled out. I highly reccomend this feature & it does give your kitchen a high-end look as a bonus.

We also use our pot filler as a faster drinking water faucet (filtered), so water doesn't sit in the pipes for long. Also, if boiled, it doesn't matter if it sits in the pipe for a while. Agree with measuring position based on your tallest stock pot, at least, and with access to your strongest burner. Ours is hung at a generous height of 18" (burner surface to filler outlet) and centered when folded back on our 36" stovetop for aesthetics and access to all burners (all but one burner are the same output rating). I recommend covering the most burners possible (near the 4 adjoining burners), if they are all rated the same. We use ours all the time.
