Floor tile

Saw an unanswered questioned about the tile. Stopped in a tile shop, showed this picture and was shown tile that was an inch thick or huge 12x16 tiles that have to be cut to size and then chisel corners......
What type of tile was used?

the floor tile is a reclaimed clay tile from southern france, and is sealed using a non-enhancing matte sealer.

Is that your installed tile or just a pix? Have you chosen your wall paint? What color are your cabinets? Upholstery on your dining chairs, style of furniture? I am looking at the grout in your photo. It make each tile stand out and looks very contemporary to me.

Thank you Patricia. I just got back from tile store and saw this display which i think is beautiful - it's an italian marble so there will be inconsistencies which I think is actually what I love about it. I would imagine a cream colour kitchen but possibly with a light grey island, or would it be better to stay all the same?

Hi Gilluan I think either could work but it depends on the layout of your new room. if there is a distinct divide between the two spaces then you can separate the floor coverings. It certainly makes the living area feel warmer and more cosy if you have wooden flooring in that space. Equally a tiled floor is far more practical in a kitchen.
