Dilemma about shower tray installation

DMX
last month

Hello,
I am wondering how to have a stone resin shower tray installed:

1) On the same level with the tiles, so that it will basically play a floor tile
2) Above the floor level, so it will make a small step of about 3 cm height

Can you please give your comments, pros and cons ? I personally like option 1) more, but I need your advice from practical point of view. What would cause me less trouble in future.
Many thanks!

My shower enclosure tiles were added after the shower tray was fitted, so they sit on top of the tray.

My tray is almost flush with the floor tiles. I've not had any issues yet, but it was only installed a couple of years ago

Thanks a lot! My plumber is suggesting to make it like Sarah's tray. When I ask him why, he says so that it will be harder for the water to spill out. And I seem no to be able to grasp his point.

The shower cubicle which I am planning to get has a aluminium threshold which will prevent water from spilling out.

@Sarah - what mechanism prevents water from spilling out from your tray / cubicle ?

    Many thanks ;-)

Hi, as mine is a walk-in shower, the deflector panel helps to keep water inside. The main thing for me is to keep the drain clear. I have flooded the floor once because the drain was blocked.

    Exactly that was my question...

I will at least have a threshold thanks to the shower cubicle.

This is why I am getting a shower cubicle, not a walk-in...

But we've already off topic with that... Mea culpa, sorry!
