Can I put a kitchen with an extractor fan in a living space where there is a woodburning stove
Comments (2)I assume you mean a wood burning stove as fireplace as opposed to a wood burning stove as cooking stove? Takes all kinds to make a world and it's not the first time I've seen the idea. It depends on the strength of the fan. Pulling too many cubic feet per minute may suck smoke and carbon monoxide into the living area from the stove. Make up air ventilation, outside air, is required for fans over a certain CFM. I can't quote code on this one, but the make up air prevents negative pressure within the house. A sealed combustion firebox is probably OK, the air for combustion on such a unit would also come form outside. The EPA rated wood burning fireplace from Fireplace Xtrodinaire is an example. Comments (22)I'm pretty sure they will have been put in to provide a non-combustable zone behind and around the stove. We are about to install a wood burning stove and the installation instructions specify an area that needs to be heat resistant. Removing or even painting them behind the stove would be difficult and potentially dangerous. I would either paint the rest of the chimney breast a dark green to reduce the impact of the tiles, or add a fire surround (checking with the manufacturer or a reputable installer about clearance) and some painted tongue and groove cladding over the chimney breast depending on your preferred style....See MoreWill I get away with one light not exactly the same?
Comments (5)My husband is the same! Just my opinion but as they're both chandeliers I'm not convinced it will work. Could you get a cheap light for by the woodburner? Either something hung lower than the chandelier or semi-flush in a different style. Maybe something contemporary as a contrast? I know that's not ideal re budget but you may be able to get a bargain in the sales. Do try just holding the light there though when the room is built and take a pic as i may be wrong.....See MoreAdvice on colours to bring a room together
Comments (24)Susiem14, I think this room looks lovely and cosy and like your fireplace. I would add a few bits in cream and fawn/grey. Please don't be offended by the comment above... Everybody is different and we all have different budgets! I have recently changed my lounge to be neutral tones - still working on the cushions but sending you a photo of my new rug - was from Dunelm Mill - not expensive at all but v pleased with it....See MoreIsla Cherry
