DIY Novice cracks in bathroom wall/ceiling. Help!

Have cracks between bathroom wall and ceiling which appear fairly large and as a DIY novice quite daunting. Any advice welcomes!

    Scrape off the loose plaster, all of it, really go back as far as possible. When it's all removed use a filler to fill the part closest to the wall using a scraper. Be patient and take as long as you like. The smoother you get it the less rework will be necessary. Paint over it and it should disappear. Try a little area first until you get the hang of it. They are quite large cracks. Is it upstairs and do you have any others like those?
