Party wall, what can I do?

Hi, my neighbour has had a extension built and the wall looks huge! It is directly opposite our kitchen door.Nothing we can do but I would appreciate ideas on what to do with it please.The photo is from my kitchen door. They will render and paint it 🤞

Comfy outdoor chair, small table for drink and a few big potted plants. Make it a destination to enjoy - or to look out and imagine enjoying!

You could do a bench with a top that opened for storage. This way family & guests have a place to sit and take off their shoes or boots when entering. You could also put hooks on the wall above the bench for a place to hang coats or keys. A second option could be a sideboard or dresser. This would also provide storage and you could put decorative accessories on the top of it and hang a nice picture on the wall.

Hi everyone. I am having a Stovax stove installed (frame in pic) and have been advised to cover the wall with a tile or metal sheet as it will crack. Was considering slip bricks in white and a wooden floating mantle? What do you think? It’s a wide chimney with two wide alcoves either side. My sofa is orange.

Doesn't look like a hidden/box gutter so some of the water will fall your side. I'd ask the question.

Search garden wall art, it looks like there is a bit of space for pots to live if you like plantings. It could be a living wall, or a metal feature.

We built a similar extension years ago. All drainage will be on their side. Your drainage cannot be on your neighbours side. Plant a green wall. It's high it could look amazing. Just make sure of the light with regards to the type of plants.

When it’s finished paint the wall a soft terracotta or green then add some wall art. There are loads available at garden centres or online in all sorts of designs. I know nothing about the party wall thingy but certainly needs looking into.

A party wall agreement is a notice of their intention to build. It now seems redundant although they were obliged to do one before they built in your shared boundary.

I suspect the roof has a slight pitch to their side so I wouldn’t be worried about run off from the roof. But as a good neighbour you should be highlighting how their builder has finished this side of their extension. I worry that there is no drip bead on the render and your decking appears to run right up to the extension. Since properly installed decking has a slight slope for rain run off it would make sense it is sloped towards their wall. The solution is that their builder make a modest gap at the edge of your decking (which will make your decking edge look tidier so it’s a good thing for you) then they should render the wall planning their rain run off.

Before you do anything to the wall you need to get their permission before even a screw penetrates the wall. Also I would mention the awful finish they have left on your side, all that exposed blockwork, which will soak up water like a sponge, is not going to be good for them, or you as the wall goes green.

Also a bit of nit picking, but if that render is over your decking, then they have encroached on to your property.
