Comments (3)Can you post some photos? It would be good to see the marble color and pattern in particular before brainstorming about the backsplash as you don't want anything busy if your marble has a fairly busy veining pattern. But even without a photo, one safe choice could be matching subway tiles to your cabinet color. This would make the brown marble counters stand out as the feature of the kitchen....See MoreSplash back tiles behind cooker
Comments (5)You can stay neutral but use different textures in the tiles. Glass mixed with ceramic or marble is good. I would put tile on the entire backsplash and make a great accent piece over the range. Change up the patterns also. It will add interest without adding too much color. If you want to be bolder, chose one or two colors in the tiles that you can live with or that you have in the rest of the house. That will pull your color scheme into the kitchen and make a cohesive look as you go throughout the house....See MoreHelp to jazz up book case/ book shelf

Just remember to keep the decorations simple. Look over the beautiful photo above from Maureen again, and you can see that some shelves are still all books, and there are only a few decorative pieces....See Moreback splash/ tiling

I would take the tiles to just under the bottom shelf, and up to the hod. We have had tiles behind our cooker for 21 years, and we don't find the grout staying clean a problem. By the way - I think subway tiles will look dated in a few years, as anything bang on trend tends to do....See MoreK OB
