Looking for ideas for this space

last year

We have built a rather large extension. 4.5 to 5.5 metres out from the original bungalow. And around 12m wide.
One side hosts our kitchen, the other has an offshoot snug / living room. We want to keep this as our living room and have had it looking lovely already. We are getting new flooring done so the whole place is pretty empty. The main thing I'm interested in is ideas for the wide open space between the kitchen and the living room. We have a large dining table already. A square window on the side and a 5.5m long white wall.
Does anyone have any ideas on how we can make this more homely. It all seems too open and cold right now.

You need finishing touches, such as art on the walls, a rug on the floor (under the table and in the snug) some plants, lamps (floor, ceiling or table). They are the things that cosy up a room.

I agree with the first comment- for me the issue is that it is under decorated. Consider putting a texture on the walls such as wood panelling or split stone. Consider adding more furniture such as a low board that can be used as a bar. Oversized plants would look amazing especially with the light from above. And you probably need to get the artificial light sorted which means lots of light sources such as table lamps, floor lights etc

Two ideas. Both times I would block up the entrance to the second half of the room to make more usuable space. Both ideas have a island with a dining table attached. Obviously these drawings are not to scale but everything should fit in. I would utilise the kitchen cuboards for utilities- intergrated appliances. If you can dont forget to use the space under your stairs as well. Also use the long wall at the bottom of the stairs for extra storage and alcoves.

Hi All, I have a 6m2 room on the ground floor. I want to keep this room as a living space. It is across the hall from the kitchen and adjacent to the main living room. There is a large window looking out on the neighborhood and the garden. In the builder spec the room is labeled as a study. However I want to keep an office in the box room upstairs. Hi I would put a large rug under the table to add some softness and colour if that’s your thing. I think you should consider either a long dresser or a sideboard for the wall between the square window and the tv room. This could then I troduce some interest to the room. If a sideboard you could have art or a mirror above and lamps on either end to add some warm mood lighting. If you went with a dresser you can display all manner of things on it - decorative plates, cups, vases, trinkets and also have lamps on it however a dresser is probably a bit too traditional for your room which has a more modern feel. Maybe a comfy chair and tiny side table in the nook under the square window to sit and enjoy the view. It will be lovely once you have added final touches!
