Thank you for your contact. The plant is Irohamomiji (Japanese maple). The leaves are green in spring and summer but they turn into these colors during autumn season. After turning yellow to red, they become fallen leaves. We, Japanese, enjoy seeing the color changing and the fallen leaves in late autumn. Originally the trees grow with rich humic soil or leaf mold at water side, so I'm not sure but it seems difficult for them to grow in desert. Thank you for your interest.
