It really is just personal preference, no right or wrong.

My preference here would be lighter trim. I feel dark trim would be too bossy and distract from the views.

With the design elements you’re describing, yes, I think dark trim would be too much, too busy/choppy, and not really relating to anything.

ETA: Clarifying that I‘m only referring to the house being asked about here, not every house with dark trim.

Oh yes…BLACK! SO GORGEOUS…black trim brings every room to another level..it visually enhances the architecture…have fun!

At least you have photos to make an informed decision. This is personal taste and preference. Flip a coin if you really can't decide!

With all your windows it will really frame your view too!

I prefer low contrast personally, fewer choppy walls and views etc so i would go white

Wood cladding on the inside? Certainly not wood clad on the exterior. I would suggest the same color frame for both inside and out. Black usually is an upgrade and more $$$. Have you considered bronze which has been used in contemporary homes for decades?

I much prefer the white, which works beautifully with light walls and allows the eye to instantly travel beyond to the view outside. The black has a severity to it that I really find jarring. I wouldn't want anything to take the focus off the great outdoors.

By the way, I do love your inspiration! We're about to close on the purchase of mountain acreage and I really enjoy seeing what others are building in such areas! Your home will be stunning.

Gorgeous views. With all your wood elements, white will let the woods and views shine. Black is great is some places but not for these windows. You can use black stools or other accents for contrast. It is so pretty.

White looks 80s? Why in the world imply that a basic color option is somehow dated?

I don’t think there is a wrong way to go with this. We wanted black interior and it was cost prohibitive so went with white. I’ve not once regretted it but I also would have loved black.

IMO the black frames the views much better than white but the black needs to be much thinner framong to be the right look and that will ad a ton to the cost.

Agree with Patricia. i didn’t even feel the need to ask what others felt before selecting dark stained interiors. I live the framed effect Do what pleases you!

Mojomom, those are beautiful in your house, I remember seeing them before. They’re integrated well with your surrounding elements and finishes. The OP’s house will have no other black other than stair railings, and will have natural wood finishes and white walls.

Iirc, you have black trim throughout your lovely home, as well as black elements on the exterior? It’s all very cohesive and works for your house as a whole. With the OP’s house, it would have no connection with anything else.

She’ll have to decide if she wants the window frames to be the focal points of the rooms or not, in the context of her other room elements.

If only one window was black, I’d agree that it would seem out of place as the OP doesn’t plan for more much more black, but with every window in the house black, how much more of a connection would one need? I’d pick black, I like how the view gets more attention, a little more drama.

Love the design and location of the home. Some pretty property up in the NC mountains.

Have you decided on a brand? The Elevate has a nice set of options and you'll keep those minimal frame lines and large glass openings. While it is a modern look and maybe a flash in the pan, I do like the black interiors.

I love black windows but white is classic and will work too! Are you painting walls white or colors? Also some of these photos have black trim and the trim makes a huge difference. It’s much more of a statement if the trim around the window is black, if its trimless or trim the same as the wall color, then just the actual window sash is black and it just highlights the view.

Thank you all for your input. Walls will be white and there will be no trim around the windows (will do drywall return).

^^^ Based on your comment, stick with white windows to blend with your walls.

Me too - based on last comments - white for sure.

You have to think about window coverings too. The white will be so much easier to plan around.
