Design Dilemma Kitchens Living Rooms

Colour experts please help! - Neutral wall colour

Hi,

We have a newly built south facing kitchen/diner/living extension and ordered our kitchen due to arrive in a couple weeks, builders want to get on with painting and we are stuck!

Kitchen cabinets are F&B Skimming Stone, with a F&B Studio Green island
Antique brass light switches, and handles, with a brass hot tap
Floor Tiles are porcelain neutral https://www.mystonefloor.com/product/provence-crema-stone-effect-porcelain-tiles/
Entrance hall we're thinking Skimming Stone above Dado and Elephant breath below Dado?

Looking for a colour for the walls of the open plan back (photo attached of space) which will contrast enough with white skirting and coving. but dont just want a boring 'beige' space.

Colours we have looked at are LG Slaked Lime 105 (maybe not contrasting enough with skirting), Dulux Summer Linen (maybe too yellow)

Want to make this a really warm, natural space, got a velvet stone colour sofa coming and will add tones of green with rug, plants, with door & frame to utility painted studio green? A third accent colour needed?

Anyone got any other fabulous ideas to help us out? :)

Definitely not a colour expert :) However warm putty by Coat, shown below, looks as if it may work well? Pointing could also be an option but not sure of it in a south facing room

i have a SS room with ochre cushions etc for an accent colour which seems to work well or maybe a browny pink

How about Purbeck Stone (F&B)? My sister has it in her hall and it is lovely. Found this image about decorating with Skimming Stone too. Second pic is Purbeck Stone, third is Skimming Stone walls and units.

Hi Maria. It's a lovely kitchen and I must admit I like the white so would probably change the accessories. I would add a huge sunburst clock or mirror above the cabinets (can't work out if it's a clock or mirror above the fire). Add a statement light over the table. Try a coloured splashback behind the cabinets. Add some coloured stools. I would say paint the kitchen chairs but I can see they are good quality! If you do want to paint then either blues, violets or even a very soft grey if you add some coloured accesories. Do make sure the colour blends with the lounge though as you can obviously see through.

Simple is the right style for the fireplace. But that means you can't crowd it with large furniture or it easily gets lost. Can you rearrange the furniture?

Instead of doing something like a paint color, why not expand into doing something a little more bold and daring like wood planking or grass cloth, etc.? This will not only help accent your "neutral," kitchen wall color, but will also allow you to continue flow throughout the space and give you a more well rounded and grounded space. I would heavily consider doing something that adds not only texture but depth to the space, paint color is great, but accent walls are a thing of the past! Give your kitchen the POP it deserves and your space will be transformed.

If the units are Skimming Stone and you already have the tiles and the island is Studio Green then it needs to all work together. The studio Green is very dark and will really stand out in the space, it might be worth repeating a slab of it elsewhere to create some cohesion (maybe the back wall in the window end of the room?). Studio green works really well with wood, bricks or anything warm and earthy, otherwise it can look quite cool, wooden elements would really help. Is the floor area all tiled?

Hi Lauren Roberts, if you have been looking at Slaked Lime 105, have you taken a look at Slaked Lime Mid 149? It is a soft neutral with a bit more warmth. Another option you could explore is using Studio Green again to create a link between the island, this would create a cohesive look. It looks and sounds like you're going to have a fabulous space!
