paint/plaster decorating help

Can someone please guide me on how to fix the attached - doesn't need to be perfect/any decent fix will do. Will really appreciate giving a list of tools/items I need to purchase too for this in addition to other guidance.

First is an area on the wall next to door which seems to be chipping away over time.. started small.. (in the kitchen/lounge)... (in addition there are some spilled tea colouring which guess needs paint over it)

Second is an area behind the sink in the kitchen/lounge where paint seems to be peeling off

(Complete novice at DIY here so sorry if this is too basic for some of the experienced folk/guidance much appreciated)

The first photo looks like its missing architrave which would cover the edge, you can see the skirting board ends short like it should but up against something (Usually architrave if its a door)

Second looks like it could be water/moisture from the sink or window causing it to peel, check the window isn't failing, you should be able to tell if its damp coming out if you leave a piece of cling film (or any plastic) on it over a day and night, if theres condensation under it in the morning its damp coming out.

I love dark walls and I think your hall with the shiny floors and the right finish on the wall make it special. You already have the wrought iron, which definitely dictates a certain look. I hesitate to recommend a specific color from my monitor, but look at the BM colors in the 1037’s through the 1078’s and see if there is something there which looks good with the tile.

You'll need to deepen the wall color for the contrast you want. One overhead light is not enough for your dark corner. That is what we call "ambient" light - just a way to turn something on so you don't fall over furniture when entering in the dark. You'll need both accent and task lighting - lamps. Your current furniture is very large and is eating up this small space. Before you replace it with an equally large "suite" consider mixing it up with a pair of chairs and an apartment sized sofa. I think the only place you could put a tv is probably the corner by the window...over the fireplace is probably too high. a walnut floor and new fresher paint colour would be lovely, would you consider painting the skirting boards and fireplace white or off white to modernise them a bit? we've painted the skirting in our living room (also a walnut floor) and it looks so much better than before. (Have yet to get around to the rest of the house!!)

Cornforth white is one of my go-to colours, matched with a Grey carpet will look stylish and chic. Pairing these with Blush tones and a muted metallic Chrome / Gold or Copper would look perfect. Gold and Brush Steel tend to stand the test of time so either would be a great addition. A bespoke Headboard would make this space elegant and mature.
