Please help. I need suggestions for exterior redesign of house.
Comments (15)hello bonnielynn75 and THANK YOU! your comment put a smile on my face re the red on the interior side of the door. It IS red on the inside as well, he insisted on that when we purchased it. no one here has it red on the inside and I wanted it to be white on the inside. do you see my dilemma?;) I agree with everything you are saying, I suppose this is the reason why so far I was not 100% sure about the black for the door either, although I like black...Agree, there is too much wall and I find the house to be looking a bit 'bland' and would like to change that. I LOVE shutters, but read somewhere that you never put shutters on wide windows, so got unsure about that, too...but perhaps just the one as I stated earlier. Would the color on that shutter be the same as the door (if I ever settle on a door color)? Unfortunately window boxes are not an option as we have quite a few cats and they may be used as litter boxes;) please don't tell me to get rid of the cats;)... Regarding the stoop (entrance) : we need to add another step (made of cement) on top of the existing step: it was removed when the new door was fitted. We were thinking of putting slate tiles or something dark to match the roof, if that makes any sense.... It is porous cement so unsuitable for painting, I think. What place in Ireland did you visit, we are close to the Irish Sea in the country surrounded by sheep;)......See MoreBedroom makeover - where to start?
Comments (5)Have you thought about choosing furniture first? If not try that. The reason for that is your bed and other furniture such as dressers and wardrobes will take centre stage, so that should take priority. Perhaps there's a particular style or piece of art that inspires you and with that can get you started. Perhaps choose colour last as it can be something to complement all your furniture, carpet, window dressing etc. Don't forget to think about lighting, so important in a bedroom, soft bedside lamps for reading and relaxing and maybe a brighter central light for dressing, etc. Windows are important too. Too often they're neglected, if you're a light sleeper think about blackout backed curtains or blinds. And it's here and with rugs/ carpets, pillows and throws where you can really have a bit of fun. Perhaps an interesting colour and stylish pattern to spruce things up such as chevron or other geometric patterns. Look forward to seeing the room. Good luck!...See MoreWhere can I find furniture featured in movies and TV shows?
Comments (1)I only know about the Property Brothers because they once did a whole season featuring lighting you can find on our website (shameless plug!), but their website generally includes sourcing information for episodes....See MoreGold Kitchen Hardware - where to find in Dublin?
Comments (2)Thanks Barry. I will try Showtime for the taps. I've found one shop in Dublin that supplies brass lacquered handles but they tell me they are really not practical or recommended for use in a kitchen as the lacquer will "break down" (they couldn't say how long this would take). I see gold coloured hardware all the time on Houzz though so I think there must surely be a material being used in those handles that is more kitchen friendly..I just cant seem to find any kitchen company that knows more about it. If anyone has experience of "gold coloured/effect" hardware in a kitchen, would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks again...See MoreFrank Builders Co Inc. Concrete-Cincinnati
