Woodburner regs?

Hi,
We have just got the keys to a project house and am thinking about the downstairs layout. We would love to install a woodburner but have been told by a friend if we do not have a firebreak between it and the stairs we would need to install a sprinkler system. Does anyone know if this is correct?
I have attached the layout. The walls in red are coming down and the blue doorway is being blocked up.
