Need ideas to decorate my wall
Comments (15)Once again, carolins has taken the words right out of my mouth. I sometimes feel like a crusader for entertainment centers and lowering art! You have a dynamic room with so much potential. Your wall could look amazing with the armoire carolins has pictured above. Of course, lower your sconces so that they're a about 4" below the top of the armoire and about 7" from the sides. Your fireplace should be your focal point with your wall being strong but not competing. Rooms get personality from smaller accents but you have too many little things that take away from the great colored pillows and the picture. Be careful not to hang things in straight lines--top of pictures should never line up with tops of doors or curtain rods. I wish we could see your fireplace in another photo. Chairs should form conversation groups with the couch like Carolyn has outlined. I like your chandelier but you might think about lowering it or moving it above a dining table--it looks rather lost way up there....See More1960s fireplace with built in brick planter
Comments (0)I want to either get rid of the planter that is on the right side of my fireplace (which takes up an entire wall) or re-purpose it. Any ideas?...See MoreWhat to do with Fireplace Wall ??
Comments (0)Hi ! I am looking for some ideas for the end wall in an open plan kitchen/dining drop down sitting room area. The fireplace space can be brought down in height if necessary . I'm thinking some paneling with a built in fire place ...but I am open to any suggestions. Just put into perspective the width from window on left to wall on other side is 6.1 m. Thanks !...See MoreLiving room update - advice on fireplace
Comments (2)I think a rectangular fire could look jammed in between the bookcases, unless you can find a short one... Maybe you could simplify the fireplace by changing the backing board for a pale colour (not beige) and changing the surround for a really streamlined boxy shape. You could keep the mirror above. You say there's a lot going on - if it's possible to rearrange the items in the recesses in the two bookcases so they are more symmetrical, eg have some books on both sides, some candles each side and so on, it would give a "calmer" look? Another thought - normally shelving either side on a fireplace is recessed in the alcoves whereas yours are in line with the fire surround. If you had a fake full height chimney breast built and brought the fireplace forward (would only need to be the depth of the shelving) it might make the shelves look less dominant...See MoreDaisy England
