shards in soil we received from landscapers

Hi, we are currently getting our garden redone and just got some soil added to our planting beds. We now discovered that this soil is full of large glass and ceramic shards and plastic. Upon questioning this, we were told that this soil is from another old, large garden that the landscapers are currently working on and that this is good quality soil that would be classed as virgin soil as it has not been put through a sieve. They also stated that we got this soil free of charge. I am personally not feeling comfortable about having shards in my planting beds. Am I over reacting or do I really have reason to complain about this? We live in the UK. Thanks
