Hot pots should stay on the stove, on a stone/metal trivet or on a thick butcher block that can be scorched and put away. The heat from hot pots and pans can discolor whatever is on/in the granite (sealers, cooking oil in the porous surface), cause seams to open on engineered stone and solid surface tops. Suggest your read the Use and Care Manuals published by the manufacturers available on line.

Thank you soo much for your compliments. It makes me happy as we did everything ourselves (took a while since only had sometimes time during the weekends). id love to see your kitchen as soon as you have the bodbyn installed. What colour countertops/backsplash, floors do you have? can buy a small “tester” can/container and try it. Can always be painted over. we really dont have much exposed wall directly next to the cabinets... except for the 15”deep (island against the wall). we have large opening above that “breakfast” counter to the family room (so as we sit we can watch tv that’s over the fireplace.). That room we also decided to paint the same as the kitchen. would have been too tight to have an island in the middle of the kitchen.

A15) @Dara Cooke: If you can't afford a quartz or granite worktop from day one then I would recommend using a laminate worktop as a temporary solution. If you don't put tiles up as a backsplash then replacing the worktops can be relatively easy in a couple of years.

I am in the process of re decorating not sure what to do here. Dilemma 1: want to brighten up north facing hallway want to go with neutral tones. I was thinking of repainting doors white but painter thinks I am mad ! Any suggestions for woodwork and walls? Maybe keep doors oak and stairwell white/ all white woodwork ?? The end door is to my kitchen which the counter tops are very dark (painting this too so all ideas welcome) don’t mind blind colors they are going
