In search of pretty blinds :)

I really like these blinds (https://www.houzz.co.uk/hznb/photos/budget-blinds-traditional-entrance-denver-phvw-vp~19987427) but couldn’t find them anywhere on budget blind’s website.

Anyone know what are they called?

I do not see velvets and silks for a kitchen sink window sorry. There are plenty of gorgeous fabrics around with beautiful damask or geometric pattern that are striking, that could be found in a faux silk or linen. Velvet is something that I would never put in a kitchen. But it is your kitchen.

Hi, We're often asked about the best way to achieve a blackout effect. The key is to realise that most blackout products offer a degree of room-darkening, but not total blackout. Layering is a great way to help achieve this, but in your case you're obviously limited with this. Curtains with a blackout lining are effective as they cover the whole window, but they still have a degree of light flare - where the light creeps in at the edge of the window - as they sit proud of the window on a pole or rail. Moreover, Roman blinds with a blackout lining are effective, but they too sit slightly in front of the window and allow some light in at the edge. One thing I'd suggest in your situation is PerfectFit Roller blinds with a blackout coating. PerfectFit is a clever little system which clips into uPVC window frames, meaning each blind fits each piece of glazing perfectly. Combining this with a Roller blind with a blackout coating is a great way to lessen the light flare. Then, in the future if you could stretch to curtains as well, you could layer two blackout fabrics for an even greater effect. Hope this helps, Zoe

I have to agree that glass film is brilliant- we used Purlfrost online. You can either pre measure and they will cut for you you or you can buy a piece and cut to your own specs. It arrives rolled in a tube. We've done two rooms- the living room with full frost and the other, a bedroom- with just the bottom half of the window covered which looks pretty modern and sharp. It was supposed to be a temporary solution till we got shutters organised but it looks so effective and fresh that we've decided to save the small fortune that shutters cost! The help line was great- they recommended leaving a gap around the edge near the frame for a beveled glass effect which did actually work! You can get different levels of opaqueness - we used the less opaque for more light but still private- or patterns or stained glass effect. Its really easy to apply yourself too, and apparently comes off with no damage to the glass at all, so good if. Works out really economical as well. Can you tell I'd recommend it?! :)

Hi. I'm not that keen on the paper with the rest of the room, it doesn't look bad at all but it doesn't look stunning either imo. Everything else looks to be more of a greige? I'd look at the same paper in truffle, sable, dark linen or even the pewter may work ( hard to tell colours on screen so would get samples of all!). I agree with the others, would go for plain bed linen and add pattern in cushions and/ or throw. It looks as if a chalk pink would work best with the greige. Maybe a chalky white for the remaining furniture. You could also break up the window ŵall by adding a trim and maybe Pom poms to the bottom of the blind. A little antique gold for accessories, lights etc would also work well.
