Porch ceiling renovation.

We currently have a single storey entrance porch with an apex roof and a flat ceiling with spotlights in. We would like to remove the flat ceiling as it is quite low and board the apex putting in a skylight to try to lighten the porch and make is a bit of a feature rather than a box.

Is it possible to do this as a DIY project or will we need to employ a builder.

Awkward small front garden perspectives sought

Hi, I am in the process of renovating a house and garden (see image above). The wall on the right boundary is curved and restricts the ability to exit the car and is generally annoying for reversing out of the driveway. I was thinking a straight driveway and plants either side, flower beds to cover up the ugliness of the curved wall and lessen the visual impact. The renovated house will have a slightly extended porch and the white square (chimney) will be removed. Has anybody any design advice for this space or dealt with similar? I have a north facing orientation and the driveway may need to have space for two cars in time (not absolutely essential). I also have to store bins discreetly as no rear access sow as thinking of a wooden lift up board with plants and flowers going through it to disguise. Thanks for any suggestions.
