Dining table/room lighting
Hi we recently moved in so you'll have to use your imaginations a bit! The room is going to look very different! (I hope)
Floors will be a light oak wood, will probably get a new longer, more contemporary table, new curtains, walls in mizzle/cromarty/similar.
We have the electrician coming to add in wiring so I need to choose lights now :/
I would like a pendant light here i think but can't decide whether to get one, two, or three. I think 3 might be overkill? I am leaning towards glass so the space still feels open?
It's really hard without having anything else in the room to work with!

6 years agoLighting is a bit like art, a very personal thing and we all like different things! The second Link said the page couldn’t be found so I can’t comment on that one. I really like the last one. My friend has a Laura Ashley one which is similar but a trio connected by a bar - first pic below. i also found this picture below which I liked at Laura Ashley too. At one time it was just one pendant above a dining table and now there is so much choice. I hope you find something soon.

Comments (33)If you want custom cream panelling built from scratch, it is likely to take you more than three weeks to line up a contractor, get it built and then painted. If you want to use beadboard (thin, lightweight, cheap) you can do it yourself if you are good at the small precision cuts around the wood window trim and behind the radiators. You can get a custom built wood cover with doors for your tv or use the painting over tv disguise made with hinges. I think the room is beautiful as it is. Spend some money on a truly beautiful, impressive chandelier, have it centered over the table. If you want to impress relatives at an event, the chandelier is the way to go. Clean the windows for extra sparkle. If you are in the US, try Home Decorators http://www.homedecorators.com for DVD storage cabinets that are closed. I would not get a rug for this room unless I was ready to get it cleaned frequently and I could find one that looked good with dog hair on it and did not show stains. A good quality, highly patterned wool Oriental rug will do that job nicely. I think it is too drab and have changed mine for glass and various off whites as the rooms are non-square here and the house is old but takes modern too. My gut feeling is that the way forward is to choose an exciting "theme" for downstairs first. Would you consider bright and airy sky, or tropical, or geometric, or bookish, or carnival, or countryside, what about a space rocket on the wall for the kids - it can be covered when they grow tired of it? Comments (0)Hello We have a 2.2 metre table in an open plan kitchen/dining/lounge room. Its a vaulted ceiling and we have chandelier type light in the centre. The dining table is on one side of the room and a lounge with sofas on the other side. The ceiling is 320cm high and Im just at a loss as to what type of light to put over the table should it be 1, 2, 3? Should they be individual or grouped together?
