Comments (5)I'm not sure if your walls are a "peachy" earth tone????...."if" so orange/turquoise are really in right now and could certainly brighten it up for you....I've recently gone through the same thing with our home in FLA ....the walls are a yellow + pale turquoise accents but adding orange/red to the room would have been the last thing I would ever have thought of + we centered the light fixture so that it was centered on the wall and not off to one side like the previous owner had it....you can see from the "before and after" pics what a huge difference it made...one thing leads to the next....the new chair covers I made a huge difference too but it was quite the job!....I didn't add a lot of orange/red but to us it made a huge difference...See MoreWhat is not working in this living room
Comments (12)Hi there, If you are looking to create an opulent feel then we recommend looking at Traditional Interiors and taking points from these and applying these to your contemporary living space. Chandeliers always work well to create the feeling of grandeur and in a room of this size you appear to have space for a small chandelier in the centre of the room. https://www.pavilionbroadway.co.uk/designer-lighting/ceiling-lights/hanging-lights/impero-solid-brass-gold-plated-chandelier-16708.html I would also look at the following points to create the feel of opulence: 1. wall colour - either paint the walls in a Rich Red tone of incorporate a Damask or Faux Silk Wallpaper by Zoffany https://www.pavilionbroadway.co.uk/designer-wallpaper/zoffany-wallpaper-silk-plain.html 2. Flooring - the tiles will not give you that "cozy feel" as these would be more ideal for a kitchen area. Therefore it would be better to replace these with Wooden floorboard and then a Rug. We provide some beautiful hand made persian rugs and supply for any room dimension and colour:https://www.pavilionbroadway.co.uk/persian-new-traditional-mahal-rug-13769.html 3. Lighting : Incorporate a Chandelier to create the opulent look & feel 4. Sofas - Leather sofas can be very comfortable but they are best in a snug room as they take away from the elegant formal look of a living room. Duresta are a UK brand which create their sofas inspired by pieces found in National Trust Properties, therefore we would recommend looking at 2 new sofas and an upholstered coffee table for the centre of the room. https://www.pavilionbroadway.co.uk/luxury-furniture/shopby/brand-duresta.html Attached is a quick sketch of what we could do. Comments (16)www.visioninteriors.ie Looking at your curtains and curtain pole, in my opinion it is the pole that initially needs to be corrected - it is a nice steel pole, however the importance of a pole being fitted correctly makes a huge difference to the hanging and look of the curtains. the brackets at each end of the pole should be at least 8"/20cm away from each sides of the window, this allows the curtains to frame the window nicely while letting in as much light as possible. The brackets should be 2"/5cm away from the finial ( ball end in this case) at each end of the pole. The space between the bracket and the finial (end of the pole) has one curtain ring only and the rest of the curtain rings/hooks are the window side of the brackets so that the curtains can hang straight. Whether you buy new curtains or hold onto your existing ones check out the fitting of the pole and remedy it - you will be amazed at the difference this can make....See Morebedroom with large black wardrobe and brass bed ideas for paint | deco
Comments (2)I had wardrobes in wood finish They looked so dark So I could not cope with BLACK.! I would sand and paint the wardrobe white and the walls. The bed you could make pull down covers for top and end . (Make them like an open bag so you can wash them .But a devan bed would give open space look).. materal of the same colour as the curtains. Padding them or just covering. Make the spread the same colour. For day time. That should lift the darkness from the room. You can have a blackout blind for night if you want to keep the colours light. My room looked a treet much brighter. and I sleep better now. .OliveH...See More- 8 years ago
