Backsplash

What material is used as a backsplash? Is there any other than white paint? If paint, what color and type to hold up to kitchen use?

There is no back-splash, In such cases, a good silicone seal is required between worktop and wall. the paint needs to be a good quality washable acrylic paint or even an oiled based gloss paint used for timber around the sink area works. Another alternative is a clear glass back-splash again with silicone (clear) sealant to worktop.

@Jayme Hobbs .. thanks a mil Jayme I had been looking at a light grey colour but was afraid it might end up looking just whitewashed but I love the wall paint in the pic. @eagledzines.. I've attached the closeup of the counter, will look into changing the handles just to give the cabinets a lift. @Dannielle Lyn... When we brought our house it had parquet in the kitchen, Before weIt has made had an opportunity to seal it our dishwasher flooded & they poped up. I recommend that u carefully research using it in a wet area before committing to it.
