In a new passive house, tiles or wooden flooring in open plan area.
Comments (5)If you are doing in-floor heating (hydronic heating) I would go with tile. If you are not, go with wood. That's from the energy and comfort perspective. It's OK to look at the two options and choose the one that's most attractive. Don't feel like you need to optimize for energy with every decision. Also, both flooring materials are reflective acoustically. Plan your other surfaces accordingly, or you'll drive yourself batty with echoes....See Moregrey wood floor in kitchen
Comments (15)First before you think of putting grey on your walls take into account the light in your kitchen. Where do you live? Is it sunny most of the year? Is your sky grey 4 to 6 months of the year in the winter and spring? Grey can be very depressing when you are surrounded by it day after day. My vote is for white walls or a light color. You also have to take into account what the other rooms are painted that are open to the kitchen's sight line....See MoreOld house Front Hall WINDOW DRESSING
Comments (10)Hi there, First of all, what a lovely space - the floor tiles are a really gorgeous feature! With these windows, it really is up to you. Shutters are fantastic for creating a clean, uncluttered feel, while, as Colourhappy says, a Roman blind is a great way to add a luxurious feel. Both create a classic look that will never go out of style. Alternatively, as you say, curtains are a gorgeous choice. Floor length curtains would create a real sumptuous look, but you may want to consider how this might block your radiator, especially if you intend to open and close them regularly. Comments (35)not alot happening at the moment, its winter! alotta rain, lotta. but i am bedding down to get this over with and maybe in the spring the spirits will rise once more. i hope so. i would love to feel i was doing something to keep my hopes and dreams alive, i dont see what i can do until the spring. when i bring the topic up, especially to those that moved away and came down this neck of the woods, they say they had friends who felt it was too far too and moved back home. i guess thats how i feel, thats what i want and i just want to be a bit more uplifted, i think rain dampens down things a bit!!! santa Ma Margaret!...See MoreContemporary Home Design Ltd
