I have recently been considering a smart house type upgrade; wifi connected thermostats, wireless cameras (as we live in the country without neighbors), wifi garage door openers, wifi light bulbs. Any thoughts on this? Good/ bad/ ugly
I love my WIFI Tstat and I can control my lights remotely and check on my dog through my cameras. Not only can I hear what is going on in my house I can talk to my wife or dog (LOL) though the cameras. In the long run, Tstat and lighting control will save you money. So yes I recommend WIFI but I also recommend hard wiring also.
Smart home technology has evolved and there are more products that work together. I would say first choose the feature that you are most interested in such as lighting, security, or thermostat. Then do a little research or post follow up questions about your most important feature to start from there. The options can be overwhelming so it is best to break it down. Most systems run on wifi and communicate through apps to make them very user friendly and easy to manage.
