Need help maximizing space in beach house kitchen.
Hi - our table and chairs are very tight - especially because the door
opens there (I've even turned the table the other way, but still it feels very cramped). Thinking about getting rid of the
table and chairs and extending the island to accommodate 6; then putting
in a window seat (mainly for aesthetics) by the window where the table
currently is. Not sure if we have enough room to extend island without
getting into the living area. Maybe a curved design? Would love any and
all ideas!! Thank you!

Comments (10)Thanks for the feedback, we had something similar in mind. Would you suggest bringing the door out to the front? What about the windows either side, we would think about replacing maybe in a different colour, possibly grey, and add some cedar cladding to the house front and paint walls grey. We are also toying with the idea of bring double doors out to the front with arclight over head and then to add coving around the windows with arc that mirrors the arc light to try and soften the whole angular look to to the front. Comments (10)Hi Maria. It's a lovely kitchen and I must admit I like the white so would probably change the accessories. I would add a huge sunburst clock or mirror above the cabinets (can't work out if it's a clock or mirror above the fire). Add a statement light over the table. Try a coloured splashback behind the cabinets. Add some coloured stools. I would say paint the kitchen chairs but I can see they are good quality! If you do want to paint then either blues, violets or even a very soft grey if you add some coloured accesories. Do make sure the colour blends with the lounge though as you can obviously see through....See More

8 years agoall and all the space will not get bigger with an island, or an island table extension .
my thought:
take out the island. Put the table in the kitchen where the island is now, extend the counter top across the window area, even if it has to be a bit lower to go under the window, it still serves as a cadenza, with cabinet space underneath, or you could put a built in desk area there.

8 years agoHave you thought about making the door an outswing instead? Not sure what the outside space leads to, but that might be an option...
This French Door was originally an inswing, but we replaced with an updated outswing and allowed for some dimensional challenges.
