Sorry, yes, I didn't explain very well, did I... I meant that as your room seems to be quite light, floor included, a dark grey that matches the bird on your wallpaper would give you that wow factor (pic1 below). You could then work on the layering textures within the same colour palette too with the rest of your accessories (rugs, mirrors etc). Or if you're not too keen on greys, pick out one of the other colours if you prefer- you have a good selection of pink, blue, green or yellow. As long as you match the exact shade you can't go wrong, in my humble opinion. I've attached a few pics below to show you what I mean xx

I have used paintable vinyl before and I agree, it really can look great, giving texture to a large expanse of wall. But the walls in this kitchen are particularly bad do I'd need a very thick paper. The problem is that any vinyl I've seen with heavy embossing has had a design more suited to a 1970 suburban semi than a rural kitchen. The previous owners used thick vinyl with good reason, it really did cover the imperfections but the texture and colour chosen were that of scrambled eggs! I would love something with a geometric pattern or maybe even Maureen's crochet texture if it were more pronounced. Thanks for your help, I'm sure what I'm looking for exists somewhere!

We're currently updating the house we just bought (which, other than the occasional layer of paint over wallpaper, hasn't been touched since the early 1980s). Our attempt to strip the wallpaper in the hall so that we could repaint hasn't gone well, and we now think that wallpaper is a better option. The walls aren't 100% smooth, and while we may decide to get them replastered at a later date, it really isn't in the budget yet. So we'd need something that is kind to the imperfections on the walls, and isn't too overpowering (as it has to do hall, stairs, landing, more stairs, top landing). Hall flooring is laminate, carpet on the rest will be replaced at some stage but is currently a ratty, threadbare brown.

I’m looking for mustard wallpaper. Possibly textured. Does anybody know where this can be sourced? There are plenty of yellows but I’m looking for a richer colour to add colour to a utility room and downstairs w.c.
