Dressing Room wallpaper ideas

Hi - I am decorating a small dressing room, and I want to have one feature wall. I am trying to decide on a wallpaper for this feature wall, and I'm looking for some help!
I would like something different, and fun. Attached are two (very different) options that I am considering. The room is west facing, if that makes any difference,

Comments (33)If you want custom cream panelling built from scratch, it is likely to take you more than three weeks to line up a contractor, get it built and then painted. If you want to use beadboard (thin, lightweight, cheap) you can do it yourself if you are good at the small precision cuts around the wood window trim and behind the radiators. You can get a custom built wood cover with doors for your tv or use the painting over tv disguise made with hinges. I think the room is beautiful as it is. Spend some money on a truly beautiful, impressive chandelier, have it centered over the table. If you want to impress relatives at an event, the chandelier is the way to go. Clean the windows for extra sparkle. If you are in the US, try Home Decorators http://www.homedecorators.com for DVD storage cabinets that are closed. I would not get a rug for this room unless I was ready to get it cleaned frequently and I could find one that looked good with dog hair on it and did not show stains. A good quality, highly patterned wool Oriental rug will do that job nicely. Comments (25)Take out sofa, use beanbags and those blow up seats for their friends. Coloured rugs for tumbling and crawling on. Supersoft teddy bear blankets so they can curl up. Add in one of those soft blanket boxes for toy storage and so you have somewhere soft to perch when you are with them. Paper half way up the wall in the wall paper that kids can draw on, so they can decorate in whatever colour they like and you won't mind. A childs lift up desk, bookcase and some crazy lamps in weird colours. Then close the door, collapse on the sofa that you have moved, breathe a sigh of relief and thank your lucky stars that you have another room for the kids to go to. Comments (11)I have to agree that glass film is brilliant- we used Purlfrost online. You can either pre measure and they will cut for you you or you can buy a piece and cut to your own specs. It arrives rolled in a tube. We've done two rooms- the living room with full frost and the other, a bedroom- with just the bottom half of the window covered which looks pretty modern and sharp. It was supposed to be a temporary solution till we got shutters organised but it looks so effective and fresh that we've decided to save the small fortune that shutters cost! The help line was great- they recommended leaving a gap around the edge near the frame for a beveled glass effect which did actually work! You can get different levels of opaqueness - we used the less opaque for more light but still private- or patterns or stained glass effect. Its really easy to apply yourself too, and apparently comes off with no damage to the glass at all, so good if. Works out really economical as well. Can you tell I'd recommend it?! :)...See More

5 years agoThanks all for your help and encouragement, so I took the plunge and went with the bird wallpaper, paired with grey on the walls, and I'm delighted with how it turned out :-)
The room is still very much a work in progress as you can see from the pictures, so I still need to get a dressing table, and a nice ceiling light that will reflect the silver in the wallpaper, so any suggestions about light fittings would be greatly appreciated :-)
I was thinking of putting a simple roman blind on the window in maybe a silvery/grey colour - any opinions/suggestions on the colour?

5 years agoSorry, yes, I didn't explain very well, did I... I meant that as your room seems to be quite light, floor included, a dark grey that matches the bird on your wallpaper would give you that wow factor (pic1 below). You could then work on the layering textures within the same colour palette too with the rest of your accessories (rugs, mirrors etc). Or if you're not too keen on greys, pick out one of the other colours if you prefer- you have a good selection of pink, blue, green or yellow. As long as you match the exact shade you can't go wrong, in my humble opinion. I've attached a few pics below to show you what I mean xx

5 years agoWe bought the wall paper too but struggling with the wall paint for the other walls. We bought laura Ashley silver but it seems to have a lilac tinge!!! Also looked at a silver must from homebase (not sure) or old rose from laura Ashley which is a pink.
The room has white furniture from ikea (the bedding can be changed). What are peoples thoughts - grey or pink for the other walls. Thanks for posting otherwise we wouldn't have seen the wall paper design!!
