Effective DIY sound proofing - noisy neighbours

User
I am currently suffering from noise in the flat below mine. The party walls are very thin and poorly insulated and as a result I can hear every conversation, every cupboard closing and know exactly what's being watched on the TV. I was wondering if anyone has any smart DIY low cost methods of reducing noise from neighbouring flats? any tried and tested solutions would be most welcome! I know I'm not going to eliminate the sound but any ways to reduce it would be brilliant!

Hi, the best way is to Crete an air gap with an insulated wall on your side - not connected to the wall where the noise is coming from. The best thing to do is look up a local acoustician / acoustic consultant, then they can test the airborne and impact sound and provide you with a properly designed solution. Hope that helps
