We've worked with Julia and York House Designs on countless projects now and she's always our go-to interior designer. Her work is impeccable and she goes above and beyond the average designer. Her attention to detail is second-to-none and she has the amazing ability of taking a clients ideas and turning them into something both practical, functional and beautiful. We can't recommend Julia enough.

We embarked on a large scale renovation of our 1930's home to restore it back to its original character but for modern living. We worked with Julia and team at York House Designs to design our kitchen extension, family and two ensuite bathrooms, and downstairs loo. From design and concept to fitting and execution the team worked hand in hand with us to create liveable spaces that were functional and beautiful to be in. Julia's ability to design with both aesthetics and practicality in mind was paramount to us being able to create comfortable living spaces, that retain the charm of our period home. The team were always responsive and on hand support us with the big and small decisions. We are absolutely thrilled with the results; a huge thank you to York House Designs for helping us achieve our dream home.

Working with Julia from York House Designs is the single best decision we made when it came to our project. We have absolutely no design or build experience so when we decided to knock down the home we had bought and start again it was overwhelming to say the least. The fact we considered if we actually needed a design consultant is now laughable. What Julia has added to our project is invaluable, her expertise and commitment to our project is unwavering. She has taken on our vision so well it's like she can read our minds - Julia knows what we want before we do. Julia has gone above and beyond at every opportunity, this is a massive project and our lack of experience means we have needed a lot of hand holding and Julia has been amazing at doing that - even from her honeymoon! I had a terrible experience with York House Designs. I paid a 50% deposit upfront for their Level 3 service back in April 2022 for the refurbishment of my property. In the months that followed, I felt very little progress was made and that my requirements and preferences that I kept voicing were not being sufficiently considered as part of the design phase. Moreover, I found myself constantly chasing for updates which were not always forthcoming. Four months in, progress had still not moved beyond Level 1. By September 2022, we therefore agreed to part ways. I was later informed that I would not be refunded any of my 50% deposit. It proceeded to take approximately 6 months of communication back and forth to finally be refunded just 20%. This whole ordeal for me, in dealing with York House Designs, was extremely unpleasant and stressful, and I would not recommend their services.

To give some background our Kitchen in Twickenham was outdated and poorly designed with a large toilet area within it, not great for Helen’s burgeoning baking business. A friend gave us an idea to move the toilet to a coat cupboard under the stairs which would open up the kitchen space for a complete redesign. However, we really did not know how we could implement such a transformation. Following a recommendation from Barry Mare we contacted Julia from York House Designs. We had a number of meetings with Julia to discuss our requirements. Julia listened intently to everything we were asking for and understood what we wanted and how to achieve this. Julia came up with several preliminary designs and visions for discussion, what surprised us is we could see that she had carefully listened to us. But in addition to this she came up with some extraordinary design feature which would elevate the reconfiguring of a kitchen into a wow project. The splashback window, Helen’s baking larder and baking area comes to mind. Following a collaborative process, we agreed a stunning design for the kitchen and downstairs toilet. Julia then got down to preparing a detailed specification so that building company could quote all on the same basis. As any good designer should she pushed our boundaries. She provided excellent contacts with builders to quote, architect for the plans for the planning application and structural engineer for the beam designs. She helped us to instruct the right builder for the project, Dream Building Limited. She then procured all of the units, appliances, tiling and all those little touches that made this project so special. She made sure that all the deliveries were in strict accordance with the requirements and dealt with any discrepancies efficiently to ensure the project remained on time. She kept a close eye on the progress of the project and through the ups and the inevitable downs, she always focussed on the vision and completion of the project on time and cost. She was very flexible to any changes and additions which we made but she ensured the vision wasn’t diluted. What could easily been an afterthought she provided an incredible design for the understairs cloakroom her design and her great appreciation of the space, even our builder was surprised how she got that much space from what was a pokey coat cupboard. We can whole heartedly recommend Julia for these types of projects and we wouldn’t have had such a spectacular result without her inspiration and dedication. See the results attached. We first stumbled across York House Designs as a local business with glowing reviews, and we’re so glad that we did! We initially consulted with Julia about a bathroom and W/C renovation, using the design, supply and project-management level of service, but were so happy with her that we later asked her to input into our kitchen renovation too. What drew us to Julia is that she’s independent and not affiliated with any particular supplier. We discussed in our initial consultation that we’d be open to up-cycling, and Julia managed to track-down a cabinet and marble sink that was up-cycled into a fantastic bathroom unit as part of the project! Throughout the process Julia was very generous with her time and spent many hours consulting with us one-to-one. Throughout she was: friendly, reassuring, supportive, and really \listened to us. We feel like she listened to what we wanted, but helped to coax us towards a bolder and more visionary version of what was in our heads. It feels like Julia ‘unlocked’ what we wanted, whilst staying within the constraints imposed by our older and less flexible building. We ended-up with a transformational change, and guests are absolutely glowing whenever they visit. She also oversaw the project work for a number of weeks whilst we were living away from the flat. It’s not an exaggeration when we say that we couldn’t have done this without Julia. Another benefit to working with Juila was that we got access to her many fantastic trade contacts: all local trade-people who were really great to deal with and who had very high standards. Above all, Julia is genuinely passionate about what she does, and she brought a lot of positive energy (to offset our natural nervousness!). We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her, and in fact did recommend her to our friends who are working with her now. We’d love to work with her again.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Julia on our bathroom project. Her creative ideas and experience turned a room you didn't want to enter into a feel-good oasis you don't want to leave anymore. She went above and beyond to meet our tight deadline (which was our babies due date) and finalised everything as expected. We can highly recommend working with her and are already looking forward to more projects together.

Julia created a beautiful small bathroom for us in a mansion block flat. She came up with a gorgeous design, inspired by our art deco brief, which was also very practical and maximised the small area, eking out storage and space. Various issues were encountered once the building work got underway, complicated by the age of the building. A company is best judged when things don’t go to plan rather than when they run smoothly. In that context it is fair to say that Julia was both tireless and creative in finding solutions. She was pivotal when builders said something could not be achieved, her determination ensuring that solutions were found nonetheless. Her commitment to getting the job done occasionally went beyond the call of duty, for example intervening to keep things on track by personally transporting items long distances where couriers had let us down. Julia is an up and coming designer who is gaining experience all the time and comes highly recommended for her skill in design and genuine dedication to delivering an outstanding service. She is extremely courteous and professional and undaunted when things become tricky. If your are hunting around on Houzz or Google as I was and struggling to work out who to trust with your project, look no further for somebody who acts in good faith and has the skill to see your project through to a stunning conclusion.

It is great to work with an interior designer that, not only delivers a quality product for her clients, but is realistic about what can and can't be achieved. Julia sets exceptionally high standards, adopts a "hands on" approach and understands what is required on site - a rare quality for a non-trades person. Julia was introduced to me through a bathroom fitter I had already met who works with her regularly. We talked through ideas for my bathroom - her ideas were so good for transforming the space that I asked if she would be happy to consider redesigning my kitchen as well! She was. I now have a beautiful bathroom, utility room and kitchen which I am thrilled with. Throughout Julia was super-efficient, friendly, listened to what I was asking for and was a pleasure to get to know. I can’t recommend her highly enough.

This was our first time working with Julia from York House Designs on our Bathroom and Cloakroom in our house and I must commend her on a fantastic job! Not only was she great with design ideas for both but she made it easy for some of those difficult decisions with a clear and precise methodology that worked well for us. Julia redesigned our family bathroom. I wanted a room that I loved and she delivered. I had some ideas but Julia had many more and her wealth of experience ensured that the final result was everything we had hoped it would be.
