Working with Mimi achieved exactly the goals I had in mind when I decided to hire a designer -- she provided expert advice and thoughtful guidance, she made the process easy, and most important, she ensured the result would be everything I had hoped for. Mimi listened carefully and responded with creative recommendations and smart solutions; she is also a great communicator and remarkably collaborative. As a result, my home clearly reflects the talent and standards of a professional, while being truly "my home" -- unique and personal to me. I met Mimi many years ago via a design centre located within Toronto. After a few estimates, and learning about each other's business along the way, we were able to collaborate on a project! MImi has very high standards coupled with a solid work ethic! She is able to attain her high standards in many ways. Mimi presents a detailed scope of work when estimating a project, confirms pricing and time lines prior to submitting information to the client, has many on site meetings and updates, and produces a final punchout list when the project is close to wrapping up. Mimi presents a cool level head when dealing with project challenges that ultimately allows a solution to be found quickly. Her abllility to manage trades and client expectations is very refreshing. I would recommend Mimi Pineau Design!!

We thought about our condo reno for several years. We knew, because we wanted to move walls, lay new floors, update the kitchen and bathroom, that it would be a major project. We wanted to find the right help. Finally, at a home show, we ended up with Mimi at a "meet a designer" booth and we sensed right away that she was the one for us. Because she listened. Because she suggested. Because she prodded. So we got exactly what we wanted, even though we couldn't describe it at the beginning. Mimi pushed us out of our comfort zone but always giving us options and always within our budget constraints. She helped us find the right products, streamlining our choices but always giving us room to choose what appealed to us. Her crew was excellent - clean, efficient, trustworthy. We are "living the dream" in our condo today because we took a leap with Mimi. Great design. On budget. Mostly on time (with delays being largely from condo requirements and issues). And we have not stopped recommending her since.

Mimi was recommended to us by a friend and we are very happy we followed through with that recommendation. She transformed our kitchen from awkward to ergonomic and totally sexy. We are really enjoying cooking again and entertaining in the beautiful space. We also expanded our job to some updating around the house to bring it into the 21st century. Some of it pushed the boundaries of my comfort zone but I decided to trust Mimi's design expertise and am 100% happy that she didn't let me play it safe. After living in the house for a couple of months now, I wonder why I ever doubted a black fireplace or staircase. They are classic and beautiful. Our laundry was on the 2nd floor, stuck in a too small closet with doors that didn't open properly. Expanding the opening, putting the machines side by side and installing doors that fit actually make me happy to do laundry. Overall our experience was excellent. Renovations are always stressful but whenever we got anxious about something Mimi managed to explain and go through the plan step by step again with us and calm us down. The whole thing took a little longer than we thought but now that we are living in our space it feels like that stress is distant memory. I would absolutely recommend Mimi Pineau Designs

Mimi transformed our bathroom from a dingy, awkward and thoroughly inadequate space into an elegant, functional and light filled bathroom. We can hardly believe the change - and neither can our friends. It is not a large bathroom so proportions were really important and she got them exactly right. With all the details, from lovely faucets to beautiful wall panels, intricate tile pattern on the floor, masses of storage in the custom vanity and custom bench, our bathroom now has a luxurious and classic style which fits in perfectly with our traditional older home. Best of all, it really functions well. Mimi checked on every detail and nothing escaped her attention. She was always available to discuss any changes or ideas and responded immediately. We could not have had better service.

Mimi is magnificent! Ten years ago, my husband & I wrestled with the decision to move to one-level living in a luxury condo in Westboro, a very desirable neighbourhood in Ottawa, with our four-year old daughter. Mimi guided us from reviewing the floor plans (to see if we could really do this!) to a complete interior design of the condo. From the paint colour to the furniture, to window treatments, she made us realize that every choice we made for our home impacted the overall look and feel. Mimi helped us blend chic with practical & for our daughter’s room created a gorgeous retreat where she could have fun or relax. Mimi helped us make use of all the space wisely through innovative built-ins. Thanks to her ingenuity, we have no wasted space! Choosing fabrics, furniture & even knobs & trying to ensure sure it all flows together can be a daunting task. Mimi was able to determine our tastes, style & budget and then gather products from reputable suppliers (i.e. paint samples, fabrics, furniture) and tradespeople & provide us with three or four packages of options to chose from. This service was so valuable! Because our condo is well designed and well thought out, it is a pleasure to come home to. We love our home & could not have achieved this sophisticated yet family-friendly comfortable space without Mimi’s help!

When it came time to renovate our heritage home in Cabbagetown, we called on Mimi to help us. Our goal was to maintain the beauty of the traditional style, while giving the house a refreshing contemporary feel. The rooms involved were the kitchen and bathroom. We had a good idea of what we wanted to do, but didn’t know how to achieve it. The biggest challenge was to reconfigure the rooms to improve the functionality within the limits of the space. Mimi did a great job of guiding us through her clear renderings and precise measurements. She also helped us to choose the right furnishings, lighting, colours, and finishes. We have used Mimi's services for two condos - one a refit of an old unit the other the design of a new build unit - and have been exceptionally pleased with the results both times. Mimi has excellent space design capabilities - with the refitted condo the amount of usable space increased dramatically and the whole condo opened up. Mimi was also able to expertly translate our conceptual ideas into a finished product as we envisioned. We were able to incorporate custom elements into the design at reasonable costs. We have received many complements on both units. The fact that Mimi could co-ordinate the onsite work and supervision was an added bonus for our busy work schedule. We received regular and timely updates on budgets and Mimi was flexible to accommodate changes to the design work, within reason, as the project progressed. We would definitely use Mimi again for future projects and would recommend her services to others.
