Bill, of Pennella's Landscape and Design, is a GREAT guy to work with. Communication is easy, through his professional knowledge and experience gave me expert advise to achieve my goal. On my most recent project, a front walk, his team worked hard, careful and respectful of near by surroundings, paid attention to detail ... from start to finish did a beautiful job. Lead man Wilmer made sure job went along as planned and more. Can't say enough about them. For a superior level of design and service on project big or small, feel confident and at ease as ....they will do a perfect job. Just leave it to Bill. They have done a few jobs for me, always happy and pleased with outcome. I never leave a review but Pennella's is so deserving of and as a conscientious home owner you want to make the right choice for your project.

My husband and I met Bill 2 years ago when it was time for a front yard overhaul. We met with so many landscapers but Bill stood out. He was knowledgeable about the types of bushes and trees, drainage and restoring our grass. He went the extra mile and created a virtual rendering of the landscape design. He did such a wonderful job with our front yard , that we hired him again to do our backyard the next year. He sticks to his word, pays attention to detail and has a hard working crew. He is professional and does outstanding work. Highly recommend!

Bill Pennella and his team were fantastic! For over a year my wife and I were planning to do a large outdoor project, including landscaping our front yard, outdoor lighting, bluestone front and side porch steps with ledgestone steps, cladding the foundation of the house in the same ledge stone, underground drainage, re-pitch existing asphalt driveway, thermal bluestone walkway, and a custom curved bluestone retaining wall. We researched contractors for six months. After our first meeting with Bill, we knew we found the right person for the job. First off, Bill was always professional and punctual. He was also very encouraging and thoughtful in his approach, explaining every detail about the project no matter how many questions I asked (which was a lot). What was different about Bill was that he truly cared about our home and what we were trying to do, and he worked with us to help find the best solution and design. As promised, a month after our first meeting, Bill came to our home with a full 3D mock-up of the project, which included a 360-degree model, down to every little detail, and then some. We absolutely loved what we saw. We didn’t plan to have outdoor lighting (hadn’t thought of it), but Bill was right that it made the most sense to do it simultaneous with the landscaping so it was a seamless design process. The price was towards the upper end of the range of quotes we received, but Bill was so thorough, honest, and thoughtful in the planning and preparation phase, and we did enough background research and reference checks, so we knew it was going to be worth every penny. We couldn’t have been more right! Bill and his team were always on time, extremely clean/tidy, and very efficient. We budgeted four weeks, and they finished a few days inside of their estimate. On Day 1, Bill and I did an initial walk through and he walked me through every step, the project staging, etc. Every day, we couldn’t wait to come home from work to see the progress that was made on the house. As opposed to other contractors we’ve used in the last, Bill was a perfectionist, and made sure everything was done right before the next progress payment. When I had questions, he was very accessible and patient throughout. We had a couple of change orders and Bill was very accommodating and rolled with the punches, finding solutions to the issues without busting the budget. For example when the front steps were demised we saw that because there was no flashing the entire wood beam supporting the front steps was rotted to the core. Without my prompting, Bill removed the rotted wood, replaced if with new wood, installed a membrane, and sealed it, before building the new steps and installing the new proper flashing. We felt very comfortable with the skills and expertise of his entire team. We absolutely love the finished product and will no doubt use Pennella’s for all of our future outdoor landscape and hardscape projects. Thank you again, Bill!

Bill and his crew are overall fantastic. From beginning to end they were very mindful of a home that was being lived in. After everyday they cleaned up and left the area very neat. Guys showed up everyday on time and never left a task undone at the end of the day. The completion of the job was better than expected and matched to the 3d print designed by him perfectly. Bill has a crew of men that take pride in their work. I have hired Bill back after the first job and never consider anyone else. You would be silly to not hire Bill and his team on your next project.

Pennella's landscape and designs have done beautiful work on our home. There's nothing more refreshing, once all the snow melts, to see beautiful grass, flowers, and bushes brought back to life. Pennella's has completed several projects for us over the past several years (and they continue to do our regular lawn and garden maintenance) - involving landscaping and laying out a paver walkway. Pennella's landscaped my front yard after we had it torn up to put in a new sewer line, and did an incredible job. From the initial planning to the actual landscaping work they were always helpful, pleasant to work with, respectful of our needs, and consummate professionals. You won't be dealing with a salesman and then an entirely different crew when you hire Pennella's. Bill came out and worked with my wife and I to develop a plan that took into consideration our wishes, and then was there with his crew to see it through to fruition. His knowledge of plants, shrubs, trees and ground coverings is not only encyclopedic, but also allows him to think outside the box to come up with landscaping ideas that not only improve the look of your property, but also are easy to maintain. He's a good listener, who is willing to work with you without being just a "yes" man. He helped us find the right mix of plantings and trees that not only met our needs, but fit the unique characteristics of our yard. I was so pleased with the work they did that I've now hired him to do annual spring and winter maintenance as well as landscape our backyard. I highly recommend Pennella's Landscaping!

Recommended by my neighbors last year for landscape design and general maintenance work and I became good friends with my neighbors. Used to have a back yard but now I have a BACK YARD...Owner by the name of Bill showed up twice before the project started to patiently explain and present different options and so I already had a "picture" and envision how my back yard is going to look after the makeover. I am not disappointed and the owner showed up every day during the whole project because he cares. Would definitely recommend my friends and anyone with confidence and pride.

Mr. Pennella designed and installed at our home a new front walkway, retaining wall and stairs with pavers, new nightscape lighting and plantings in 2009. The plantings included new bushes, trees and perennials and re-arrangements of mature plants. We were thrilled with the results. The work took about two weeks and was done on schedule. I was especially happy we were able to save valuable plants which were not properly highlighted in our old landscape and they were not only saved but have thrived over the years, as have all the plants. We were extremely satisfied with the work and proceeded to hire Pennella's Landscape Designs for additional work including a backyard paver patio with a small retaining wall for a hot tub, and finally this year (2014), a new large wooden deck replacing our old broken deck. We so look forward to enjoying our new deck this year! In all of our jobs, the results were more beautiful and higher quality than we anticipated and it is without reservation I recommend Pennella's Landscape Designs if you want to make your landscape better than before.

Bill is a pleasure to work with. After 17 yrs., it was time to re-do the back patio and landscaping. We decided to enlarge the patio from approx. 200 sq. ft. to just over 600 sq. ft. to provide more room for the table, grill, and to create a fire pit area. Bill took the basic design concept we had sketched and offered many helpful suggestions for improvement, and worked with us until we settled on a final design that pleased us. The finished patio is splendid. His crew was polite and professional, and the work quality is excellent.

At the time of this project, my wife and I just bought our home and were excited to make some changes outside. The backyard was already great but we wanted to have a patio, firepit, and a sitting bench to enjoy it all. Pennella was 1 of 4 people we reached out and got quoates and design from. Bill was very professional and took his time explaining the design ideas and cost. Out of the 4, Pennella was 2nd most expensive. So we didn't choose Pennella to save the most. We wanted someone we could rely on and trust. Especially for a young couple and this was a big investment for us. We were very pleased that Bill came through and then some. His crew was always on time, clean, and did an incredible job. The outcome of all the work was amazing and we love it. It is by far our favorite part of our home. The quality of the work is what I would have expected from myself if I knew what I was doing... Clearly they take great pride in their work and their reputation. Bill listens to what you want as a client but doesn't hesitate to offer his own advice or suggestions when asked. 20+ years of experience let's him provide some good insight to help the homeowners in their decision making process. Have already recommended to friends and have scheduled an appointment to discuss another project. Update: I had hired Pennella's in late 2013 to install a paver patio with sitting walls and lighting to coincide with a kitchen rennovation we were having done. The work was exceptional and the process was as painless as a sizable project can be. A year later we were finally ready to tackle the landscaping of the entire front property to coincide with the driveway being re-done. Naturally we turned to Pennella's again. Given our previous experience we were comfortable asking for referrals for irrigation and electrician and we very pleased with Bill's suggestions. Having contractors that were already very familiar with each other was an added bonus on top of the great work. Bill, Anthony and crew really know what they're doing and always take the extra steps to ensure the results are the best that can be achieved. Again, they listened carefully to our needs and ideas and used their experience to offer advice or in some cases contrary points where they thought we were off track. The quality of all products seems to be high as well. The shrubs, trees and sod are all snow covered now, but they seemed very healthy and well established going into winter so there's no reason to doubt they'll survive the long haul.

This is my second full year with Pennella's Landscaping. They do all of my landscaping including weekly mowings, trimming of the plantings, spring and fall cleanups as well as odd jobs doing landscaping projects. I am very particular, especially with my lawn, and I am more than satisfied with the work that Pennella's does and would highly recommend them to anyone. They show up regularly, do the work and leave the grounds, driveway and sidewalks immaculate. Anthony and his father Bill are very respectful and honest. Work performed is always within the estimates given, done promptly and professionally.
