Writing Table/Desk with Riser Shelf

This photo shows the completed desk and shelf in its new home with the pencil drawer extended. The drawer is made with 1/2" thick white oak sides and 1/2" thick Baltic birch plywood bottom. There is a finger-pull recess routed in the bottom edge of the drawer front.
