Verge Garden, Hawthorn

Even your verge can benefit from a thoughtful planting plan. This west-facing verge needed re-landscaping after extensive street upgrades, including new kerbing and paved footpaths. It was an ideal opportunity to get some drip irrigation out there and to design a planting scheme that would not only stand up to the conditions but also create an attractive, colourful and low-maintenance garden area. Old Red Bricks were used to create cross-over strips (also handy for the bins on collection day) and the rest of the area planted with Society Garlic, Limonium and Agapanthus. This planting scheme looks particularly stunning when the Jacarandas are in flower.
