Transitional Two-cook Kitchen
In this view, a shallow cabinet is recessed into the wall between kitchen and dining rooms to hold wine glasses and crystal. I love to use wall space this way......it adds design interest -- this wood cabinetry matches the finish we used at the admin area -- but more important is the valuable storage added to the room at such a convenient location. The home is nearly 100 years old, and so built-ins like this are quite appropriate, and executing those ideas can be done in an interesting way.
This "second cook" work area includes a sink, GE's Advantium oven, and SubZero refrigerator drawers below.
Porcelain and glass tile wrap an existing chimney and decorate the backsplash in a modern way. We painted RustOleum's chalkboard paint over their magnetic primer to create a place for organizing a shopping list or hanging a recipe while cooking.
We equipped the trash-recycle cabinet next to the sink cabinet with "Servo Drive" so that the homeowners can have hands-free access to the bins.
