The River Chair
The River Chair was designed by Bernard for a bay window which made for an ideal location for an occasional chair.
However, the distance from floor to window board in this Victorian house is only 70 cm. Given that the window’s plantation shutters need to be openable, there wasn’t adequate height for comfortable back support.
The solution was an armchair with a two-position backrest (see photos).
