Sun And Shade - Garden gateway.
The only plant to remain in the front garden after the re-build of the house was a mature magnolia which was mature and statuesque. This side of the garden is shaded by the magnolia, next door's hedge and trees and the house. The other side of the garden (on the other side of the path) and although the same soil, is far more open to sun so the planting is completely different, giving the opportunity to extend the season from muted shady spring plants to bright summer-autumn colour. Planting to the side of the drive has been extended too, by increasing the bed size, filling in the gaps in the existing hedge and creating a colour border to line the gravel drive.
