The living room previously was with carpet, while dining, kitchen and entry were with Laminate floors. This of course is good idea to separate the area by function, but it is not a good idea to make the place opened, especially for a medium size rooms. After we ripped up the carpet and laid the floors continued, visually the room get bigger and open up. -Ping Zhou
