San Francisco Exploratorium Benefit Lounge
The chairs are vintage Gary Gutterman upholstered in glitter linen. Table was a collaboration with artist Pamela Hadfield and Elena Calabrese.
This was a lounge designed and installed for the San Francisco Exploratorium's Gala Event, April 2013.
Design parameters were that it had to incorporate science and seat 10 people.
Our take on it:
Metamorphosis defined as, to change form; transform from one thing and become another, sometimes abruptly. This theme is one we feel many of us could relate to. It feels very current and timely in this, 21st century. We chose this idea for its conceptual, emotional and scientific relationship. We also love it because of the iconic form of this change; the butterfly, and its’ inherent beauty.
