It's unusual for a client to want the kitchen along the wall with expansive views ... you give up a lot of upper cabinet space. In this case, the client loves to cook and entertain so it was more important to have the views when everyone hangs out in the kitchen. With the large island, additional cabinets provide plenty of storage to make up for less upper cabinetry.
