Luxury Riverside Living in Surrey

Tucked away in a beautiful, understated corner of Weybridge is this modern riverside property, now making the most of its living space thanks to a Phantom Screens install. Read on to discover how a combination of screens and blinds upgraded this home for luxury waterside living… Sitting beside the River Wey (a main tributary of the River Thames), this secluded spot in the Surrey countryside evokes peace and tranquillity. However, south-east facing properties can be at risk of excessive heat build, and with the water and surrounding woodland come the bugs. Looking for the best solution to waterborne insect ingress and wanting to keep their stunning views intact, the homeowner contacted the UK’s leading screen manufacturer, Phantom Screens UK. With a variety of doors and windows across the property, it was apparent that a mixture of different fly screens and blinds would be necessary to combat the excessive heat build and keep the bugs out. Two Power Screens were retrofitted in the open plan kitchen/living room – one to a set of bifold doors which open out onto the riverside deck, the other to an opening which leads to a seating area underneath a pergola. These screens are fully automated and were integrated with wall switches – ideal for quick deployment. In the living room, Motorised Solar Roller Blinds were fitted to three windowpanes, helping to keep the room cooler, provide privacy, and keep the glare off the TV! The front of the property gives a magnificent first impression – the grandeur of the apex window and porch canopy are certainly stand out features. With this in mind, when a standard manual door screen was fitted to the front door, it was colour matched to the frames to blend in and not compromise on its grand design. Window Screens and Motorised Solar Roller Blinds were installed throughout the upstairs bathrooms and bedrooms. Window Screens allow windows to be opened to let out the stale air whilst ventilating the property with insect-free fresh air. Motorised Solar Blinds help reduce excessive heat build by blocking a portion of the solar gains, and also provide privacy. Pairing these together gives our customer ultimate control with the luxury to choose between insect or solar protection (or both!) at any time. Three Manual Rooflight Blinds were installed to the Velux windows above the staircase to manage the solar glare and heat build – making the most of the glazing. The greater temperature control provided by the Blinds and Window Screens can even help improve sleep quality – by keeping the room cooler with shading and superior ventilation with no pesky insects flying around the bedroom. Now, the homeowner enjoys an endless year-round luxury lifestyle with insect protection and solar management at the touch of a button! Our customer was so impressed, they immediately recommended Phantom Screens to their neighbours and family. They’re also planning to integrate screens into an in-development Passivhaus, quoting them as essential to waterside properties and sustainable living. All of our screens can be fitted either internally or externally, and thanks to the PVC fibreglass mesh, their durability is second to none.
